Federal Issue Shirt Kit

My shirt kits come with everything you need to assemble the most commonly worn army shirt in the 1850-60s. Shirts are cut from domet flannel. The shirts come in only one size as did the shirts in the Civil War, this 'issue' size will fit up to a size 44" chest. This would be a good beginner project for anyone just learning to sew.

Kit Includes:

  • Pre-cut pattern pieces

  • 3 buttons

  • Full Color instructions on a CD-ROM

Uniform Coat Kit

For those of you looking for a real challenge, try one of these frock coat kits. This coat is based off the Boylan Contract coat outlined in this research article: Boylan Contract Uniform Coat These coats are not designed for the beginner and while our CD-ROM will guide you through the assembly, it will NOT teach you how to sew.

Kit Includes:

  • All body pieces, lining pieces and interfacing.

  • All materials to make the trim.

  • All the buttons and hooks-n-eyes you need

  • Full Color instructions on a CD-ROM

Federal Issue Trowser Kit
This kit is based off of an original pair of trowsers in the US Quartermaster Museum and were originally manufactured by JT Martin. Of all the original US trowsers I've examined, this pair is the easiest to assemble. It has the least amount of hand work of any extant pair.

Kit Includes:

  • All body pieces and lining pieces.

  • All the buttons you need

  • Full Color instructions on a CD-ROM

Shelter Half (Type II) Kit
Shelter halves are just a square piece of cotton, so why are they so expensive? Well, they don't require much raw materials, but they do require 23 hand sewn buttonholes and 8 hand sewn eyelets. I'll put together the body of the tent for you and you'll do the handwork.

Kit Includes:

  • Pre-sewn shelter half with buttons and grommets marked out ready for you to sew. In short, I'll do the machine work, you do the hand work!

  • All the buttons and ropes you need.

  • Full Color instructions on a CD-ROM

Mounted Services Jacket Kit
Nothing is as martial as the 19th Century Mounted Services jacket. Our kit is copied off of the Schuylkill Arsenal Mounted Jackets. They require a great deal of hand work and are time consuming to assemble, but when done, they look really cool!

Kit Includes:

  • All body pieces, lining pieces and interfacing.

  • 3/8" Wool trim.

  • All the buttons and hooks-n-eyes you need

  • Full Color instructions on a CD-ROM
